Do's

Buy from reputable merchants. Quality is linked with the price. Be cautious of essential oil sells at very low price, it may probably be synthetic or with little therapeutic value.

A bottle labeled with therapeutic grade means nothing as it has not been verified.

Ensure the Latin botanical name is displayed at the bottle. e.g. Lavender is Lavandula augustifolia

Do not apply undiluted essential oil to the skin, essential oil must be diluted according to the age group and concerns.

Perform a patch test at 48-hour before applying essential oil to avoid skin irritation such as itchiness, redness, swelling.

Light and heat will speed up oxidation, essential oil should be stored in a dark airtight bottles and in no direct sunlight.

Keep essential oil out of reach of children and pets.

Avoid prolonged use of the same essential oils recipe.

Aware of the contradiction of the essential oil to be used. e.g. Rosemary is not favorable for those with high blood pressure.

Be cautious of using essential oil on pregnant women, certain essential oils are hazardous for pregnancy.

Don'ts

Citrus oils are phototoxic, this may cause the skin to blister or burn. Do not expose to sunlight within 12-hour after applying citrus oil or use citrus oils in sauna. e.g. Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, Organe, Mandarin .......etc.

Do not apply essential oil to wounded skin.

Do not apply essential oil to infants and not recommended for children aged 2 or below.

04

Do not use inhalation method for asthmatic person for young children.

05

Do not ingest the essential oil without medical specialist advices.
